Privacy Policy
Last updated: August 22, 2026
Gamify is currently a private preview / pilot. This describes what the app
actually collects and does today, in plain language.
What we collect
- If you're an educator: your email address, a bcrypt-hashed password (we never store
your password itself), your name, and institution — used to run your account and classes.
- If you're a student: no email and no password. Joining a class takes a display name and
a class code; a token tied to your device remembers you between visits. Losing the device means
rejoining as a new student.
- What you upload: the syllabus and problem sets/photos you provide, so games can be
generated from them.
- Usage data: scores, streaks, which items you missed, and progress — used to run the
practice loop and to show an educator's class its own aggregate stats.
- Feedback: anything you submit through the in-app feedback option.
How we use it
To generate your games, run the practice/progress features, and improve the product. Uploaded
material is sent to a third-party AI provider (Anthropic's Claude API) to be analyzed and broken
into game content. Under Anthropic's standard commercial API terms, content sent through the API
is not used to train their models.
What educators can and can't see
Class insights shown to an educator are aggregate only — counts and concept tags across
the whole class, not a per-student breakdown. Where a weak spot was missed by too few students to
show without identifying who they are, it's hidden from the aggregate view rather than shown.
What we don't do
- We don't sell your data.
- We don't run ads.
- We don't pool your uploads into a shared bank other users can see.
- We don't knowingly collect data from children under 13. If Gamify is used in a K-12
classroom, it's set up and supervised by the teacher's own educator account.
Where it's hosted
The app runs on Railway; uploads and account data are stored in a private database, not made
public.
Your choices
You can ask us to access, export, or delete your data — including an educator account, a class,
or a student's local progress — by emailing the contact below. A student can also leave a class
at any time from inside the app.
Security
We take reasonable steps to protect your data (e.g. hashed passwords, private storage), but no
system is perfectly secure, and this is a preview-stage product.
Changes
This policy may change as the product develops; we'll update the date at the top when it does.
